Unlocking Opportunities: How My Master’s Opened Doors to a Career in Justice
As an undergraduate, I pursued a degree in Law (BCL), Criminology, and Criminal Justice because it perfectly combined my passion for justice, human rights, and legal systems. Every class deepened my understanding and reinforced my desire to make a meaningful impact. Continuing to a master’s level felt like the natural next step, and choosing the LLM in Criminology, Criminal Justice, and Human Rights has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.
This programme has been nothing short of transformative. With expert lecturers, thought-provoking discussions, and inspiring guest speakers, I’ve gained insights that go beyond textbooks and into real-world practice. The opportunities to engage in hands-on learning—whether through research, legal analysis, or teaching tutorials for undergraduates—have been incredibly rewarding. These experiences have not only strengthened my knowledge but also built my confidence in my ability to contribute to the field.
One of the pivotal moments in my journey was attending the Postgraduate Open Day. Speaking with approachable lecturers, getting answers to my questions, and truly understanding what the programme had to offer made all the difference. That day, I realised this wasn’t just another academic step—it was the gateway to a career where I could drive change and uphold justice.
Now, as I prepare to step into my new role as a Knowledge Management and Legal Researcher at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, I feel excited and ready for the next chapter. This journey has been challenging, fulfilling, and ultimately life-changing.
If you’re considering postgraduate studies, take the leap. Attend that open day, ask the questions, and explore your options—you never know where it might lead. For me, it was the start of something amazing, and it could be for you too.
